”人類” の独立記念日

Good morning.

In less than an hour,
aircraft from here will join others from around the world.
And you will be launching the largest aerial battle
in the history of mankind.

"Mankind."

That word should have new meaning for all of us today.
We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore.
We will be united in our common interests.
Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July
, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom...
Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution
...but from annihilation.

We are fighting for our right to live. To exist.
And should we win the day, the Fourth of July
will no longer be known as an American holiday,
but as the day the world declared in one voice:

"We will not go quietly into the night!
We will not vanish without a fight!"

We're going to live on!
We're going to survive!


Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

おはよう。

一時間後には、諸君は文字通り世界中のパイロットとともに、人類史上空前の規模の空中戦を戦うことになる。

”人類” といったが、この言葉は今日以降、新しい意味を持つことになる。

もはや、民族などの些細な違いには、構っていられなくなる。

我々は共通の目的のために結ばれるのだ。

奇しくも、今日が7月4日であるのも、何かの運命だ。

我々は再び、自由のために戦う。

圧政や弾圧から逃れるためではない。生存をかけてだ。

人類がこの地球に生きる権利を守るためにだ。

今日の戦いに勝利すれば、7月4日は単にアメリカの祝日ではなく、地球人類が確固たる決意を示した日として記憶される一日となるであろう。

我々は戦わずして、滅びはしない！

我々は勝利し、生存し続ける！

今日こそが、我々人類の、独立記念日なのだ！
